I am photojournalist based in Boston. My goal is capture moments that connect people, tell a story and create emotion.

I have experience with a range of assignments for a variety of publications, from covering Boston University's men's hockey team to county fairs and town festivals in the suburbs of Chicago to major local and national political events on election night to scenes of fire, capturing the range of events and emotions.

I am currently a photo archivist at The Boston Globe. Previously, I interned in the photo department at the Boston Red Sox, Harvard University, the Daily Herald in Chicago, and Suburban Life Media in the western suburbs of Chicago. I also was a staff photographer, multimedia editor and photo editor at The Daily Free Press, BU's independent student newspaper.

I was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago before moving to Boston for college. I graduated in 2014 from BU’s College of Communication with a Bachelors of Science in photojournalism.

Outside of photography, I enjoy snowboarding, hockey, traveling and the color blue.

I am available for freelance work and can be contacted at michellejay203@gmail.com.
